Nevada justices side with patients in hepatitis outbreak

CARSON CITY — Patients who were exposed to unsafe injection practices at some health care facilities in Southern Nevada can make a claim for negligence even though they have so far tested negative for hepatitis C or other illnesses, the Nevada Supreme Court said Wednesday.

A three-justice panel of the court reversed a Clark County District judge who had ruled against Susan and Jack Sadler and others in similar circumstances.

The court said even in the absence of a present physical injury, those patients who have so far tested negative for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV, or who have yet to be tested, may claim negligence based on the need to undergo medical monitoring…

Some Heart Check America customers get checks in the mail

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) — More than 200 customers of a medical imaging company that suddenly closed up shop in Las Vegas are finally getting money back. It’s money they’ve been waiting for and a story Action News has been following for almost two years. But not everyone is getting a check.

“There are people out there looking out for the little guy,” said Les Hugle.

Because of that, Les now has more than $1500 back in his pocket. Hugle and his wife visited Heart Check America on Sahara near Buffalo in October 2010. Curious about their health they signed up for full body scans, financing the nearly $3,5000 cost through Chase Health Advance…

Not all Heart Check America customers included in class action lawsuit

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) – Many customers of a medical imaging company in the Valley were relieved to hear legal action was being taken after that company suddenly closed up shop. But Action News is learning not everyone is included in that class action lawsuit.

“My health is great, but i was just curious about it,” said Dave Cherkis.

That’s what Dave Cherkis says sold him on signing up with Heart Check America. The company had a booth at a convention Cherkis attended and offered him a free heart scan. So he stopped by their Sahara office in October 2010 and signed up to get a full body scam and a virtual colonoscopy…

The Business Press has reported that local attorney George West III is putting car dealerships on notice to disclose all the items that go into the price of a car or face a jury.

West’s campaign to force franchised car dealers to adhere to state and federal disclosure laws has already netted him and his clients three settlements in the valley, two with local Courtesy dealerships and one with Integrity Chrysler.
