Fraud is on the rise in many auto body repair shops. It is more common than you might think.
An increasing amount of auto body repair shops are charging consumers for repairs they never made, charging for replacement parts they never replaced or charging for original manufacturers’ parts, but only using aftermarket parts. In Nevada, this type of conduct is a deceptive trade practice.
Use of unapproved parts can also be a safety issue. For example, use of a replacement steel hood that is not designed to manufacturers’ safety specs, may not correctly crumple and absorb the energy from the crash, which is what they are designed to do. A steel hood that does not meet manufacturer’s specification could very possibly cause the driver or front seat passenger to be DECAPITATED in the right type of crash !!! NO JOKE.
